IFR Sim Flight – IFR Aproaches at GJT in a 172 (X-Plane with PilotEdge ATC)

About this event
MAXIMUM OF 4 PARTICIPANTS ALLOWED. This means that, unlike watching a YouTube video or typical livestream, I will be able to give personalized attention to your questions, and make the session as interactive as possible.
Of course, if you prefer to just sit back and watch, that is completely fine too! But the real value will come from asking questions throughout the session, learning from the other attendees’ questions, and helping to participate in the execution of the flight.
Route of flight: IFR practice approaches around GJT (Grand Junction Regional Airport in Mesa County, Colorado)
Aircraft: Cessna 172S (with Reality Expansion Pack) – steam gauges
ATC network: PilotEdge
Flight rules: IFR (primarily in actual IMC conditions)
Duration: 90 minutes
- Instrument approaches (ILS, RNAV, LDA/DME)
- DME arcs
- GNS 430/530 operations with S-Tec autopilot
- IFR radio communications
Recommended audience: Simulator enthusiasts interested in general aviation IFR operations; real-world instrument rating students and rated pilots
I’m Mike, a real-world CFI (certified flight instructor) and ATP (airline transport pilot) who is passionate about using flight simulators to teach others about aviation. I have a varied background in aviation, starting as an aerospace engineer at Boeing, followed by several years of flying regional jets throughout the US. My main passion is with teaching, and I have been a flight instructor (CFI/CFII) since 2010.
Refunds are not available. I reserve the right to cancel the session if a minimum of 4 attendees is not reached 1 day before the event. In this case, I will fully refund your payment.
Online via Zoom. Questions and discussion among attendees will be welcome and encouraged. Link to the Zoom meeting will be included in confirmation email
