About Me

I’ve been in love with aviation for as long as I can remember. One of my first memories in aviation was receiving Microsoft Flight Simulator 1995 as a gift in the early 2000s. My fascination for aviation was immediate and since then, flying and flight simulators have been a continuing part of my life both as a hobby and professionally.

I started flight training in 2017 in Austin, Texas, and earned my private pilot certificate in early 2018. I spent the next few years flying as a hobby with friends and family around Texas while saving money to attend full-time pilot training. In 2020 I began full time pilot training earning my Commercial Airplane Single Engine and Multiengine ratings, Instrument rating, as well as my Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, and Multiengine Instructor ratings. I currently have given over 1000 hours of real-world flight instruction.

Throughout my training, I regularly used my home simulator as a tool to supplement real-world training, practicing new concepts and improving skills without the need to pay for additional flight time. After completing training, I moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to begin instructing full-time and continue to encourage my students to use home simulators as a tool to supplement their real-world flight training.

Flight Sim Coach is a natural fit to help share my passion for aviation and the value of home simulators in real-world flight training and as a rewarding hobby. I like to keep things light and positive in the cockpit and think humor and fun are an important part of making learning effective and enjoyable.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you toward your next aviation goal!

“Nick was awesome! I will be messing around a bit more with my configuration, and I’m sure asking for more of his time soon.

The best way to get the full potential from a flight simulator is to have someone like Nick apply their expertise to the challenge! I would have putzed around for a long time, and probably achieved little, if I’d not had Nick’s help.”

“Patrick did a fantastic job setting up both MSFS and X plane 12! I am new to flight simulators and the settings can be overwhelming.
We even had plenty of time during the session to fine tune the HP Reverb headset.
I would definitely recommend Patrick and I will be working with him in the future as well.”

— Scott M.
New flight sim user

“Patrick was once again a true professional and fantastic resource. He had me up and running very quickly. You and your team are superb!”

“I had a terrific ‘first lesson’ with Patrick. Patrick’s knowledge, patience, and understanding of the MSFS2020 nuances were a real value add to my experience. We dove right into what I wanted to get out of the session. He shared what was most relevant for me to understand given where I am in my flying journey and ensured I did not get confused or flustered. The fact we recorded our session was powerful. I’m looking forward to my next session already. This was so much fun!!!!”

— Cesar Lostaunau

“Patrick helped me configure Air Manager/Pop Out Mgr, Octavi IFR-1 and Honeycomb Bravo (including several profiles). He’s very knowledgeable. I’m pleased with the end result and highly recommend Patrick. Won’t hesitate to sign on with Patrick in the future.”

— Michael M.

“The 1 1/2 hours went by with out a single hitch. Patrick went through my check list of questions and answered each and every one in detail. Patrick’s personality kept our session on task and all with a sense of humor. He is a consummate professional. Patrick also provided answers that I had not considered and offered creative solutions. His time management was much appreciated because I didn’t feel he wasted a single moment, yet he didn’t rush. I would certainly recommend Patrick to all no matter what your skill level and I make another appointment with him if so needed. Many thanks to all at Flight Sim Coach for a wonderful experience.”

“Patrick is a great coach, friendly and knowledgeable.
Definitely made me re-engage with MSFS.
My settings were all messed up, what he accomplished in an hour would have probably taken me weeks to figure out!”

— Bas

“Patrick is a terrific instructor and coach. He has a way of explaining complicated flight stuff in terms so simple even a Project Manager can understand them. He is cheerful, friendly, and pleasant to work with. I look forward to many more lessons from him.”

“Patrick is just awesome to work with. He is so knowledgeable and patient with me. He has been invaluable in helping me to get my flight simulator set up and getting me the right studying material to help me pass my IFR written test with a 97% score. Without his help, it would have been a much greater struggle to make all of that happen and I can guarantee it wouldn’t have been a 97% score without him. Thanks, Patrick!”

— Greg Hughes

“Super fast setup of the flight sim. Very knowledgeable instructor. In the time remaining he installed other application that I did not knew about and gave one hour of instrument flight as introduction.”

— Andres Socarras

“My grandson just finished his six hours of pre-solo training with Patrick. I was very impressed with the training that Patrick provided. The training was beyond my expectation and Patrick accommodated my grandson’s schedule including the session today that Patrick did while on vacation visiting his family in Texas. My grandson starts his private pilot training the second week in January and the curriculum you have will give him a jump start that should be helpful.”

— Ben C.
Pilot and former Air Traffic Controller

“Patrick is great! He was able to help me tune my VR/MSFS2020 so that it works very smoothly. After that, we started working on working on how to set up my in-sim IFR practice. I’m glad I found Flight Sim Coach!”

— Richard C.
Instrument Rating Student

“I learned that there are ways to correct the set up parameters to make the sim respond properly to the many inputs necessary to “fly” the aircraft. And Patrick was extremely experienced, both with the computer and real flying, and was patient and helpful by pointing out where to change the set up of the program.”

— John

“Patrick has been absolutely amazing. Extremely helpful. I was so frustrated with the sim and almost scrapped it. Level of frustration has diminished considerably. Thanks Patrick”

— Gib Goodrich

“Always a pleasure learning from Patrick. He really knows his stuff and makes it easy to understand!!”

“Loved it. My sim coach was very patient with me.

This saved me weeks of playing around to set up the sim for training mode, not playing mode.

Very experienced sim coach. Was able to guide me through correct settings of the hardware attached.

Now its getting a lot easier every time I log back in.

It really helps a lot to train on the maneuvers in between the actual flight classes. No time wasted in the air.”

— Tarek Elawa
Student Pilot

“Everything was perfect. From a last minute request I had that was accepted and with a smile on top of it. Patrick was very easy to understand and gave me answers to my needs on top of setting up a better graphic configuration for me. Can’t wait for the next session.”

“Patrick was exceptionally patient with me given my hearing problems, being an older senior and lack of computer knowledge. He was extremely efficient and helped correct all my issues with msfs2020 and xplane12 quickly and helped me understand the reasonings behind my issues in the process. Very grateful for his expertise and help.”

“On February of 2023 Patrick started flight sim coaching my son…Patrick has been very engaging since the first lesson and my son is very happy working with him. My son is a long way from formal flight school, but I know that he is learning very good flying habits and technical knowledge from Patrick that, I believe, will be very valuable in the future. We look forward to keep working with Patrick in the long term.”

— Salvador

“Patrick was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable! Very responsive in preparation for the meeting, following up after the session and made me very comfortable when I asked my novice questions. I would highly recommend him.”

— David G.

“Since this was my first time trying the service, I did not really know what to expect. Patrick was a great coach, and made the time spent enjoyable and educational. It was like talking to a friend that was not only a pilot, instructor, and tech expert, but also an enthusiast that is excited about sims, planes, and flying. As a private pilot who is just now getting into simulators to enhance my own training, I found the time and effort to sign up for session to be an excellent investment, and I look forward to another session with Patrick soon. If anything, the experience was better than I could have reasonably expected!”

— Tim

“Phenomenal 1-hour Session with Patrick yesterday. That sesh saved me days of struggling to figure out the intricacies of configuring a sim. Patrick was super patient and professional throughout and really took the time to make sure I was set, including emailing me more info to help me continue my journey….I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your company and outstanding folks like Patrick who are part of it.”

— Nick De Toustain

“Patrick went above and beyond to fix my MSFS 2020 problems, don’t waist days to read forums to figure out what is wrong with your simulator, just hire flight sim coach and you’ll be good to go in no time. Thank you guys!”
