About Me
I am a CFI, CFII, MEI, and AGI with nearly 3000 hrs of dual given. I have 4 years of experience as a Part 141 Assistant Chief instructor, conducting stage check and end of course tests for pilot certification.
My interest in aviation started early, and the very first thing I installed on the family Gateway computer back in 1997 was a flight simulator. Since then, I've used many different flight sim programs with a variety of hardware solutions, utilizing the freedom of simulation to supplement actual flight training with targeted procedural practice, improve flight deck familiarity before flying new airframes, learn and fly airframes I don't have access to in the real world, and to just appreciate the beauty of flying.
In my professional career as a flight instructor, I also have extensive experience using FAA approved simulators for training, and there are many things that can be done similarly, or with even greater fidelity in a home sim environment. With the right setup, a home simulator can get very close to the experience of the real thing. Although FAA regulations still do not allow home simulator time to be credited officially toward flight training requirements, I firmly believe in the potential and value of careful and purposeful practice in the sim at home.
I am currently working as a real world CFI, and still enjoy using my personal sim setup mainly to fly military airframes and helicopters. I am passionate about education and aviation, and love helping students to achieve their aviation goals. So whether you're only interested in simulated flight or are looking to step into an actual airplane, I am more than happy to help get you to where you want to be!
