Become a better pilot - at home.
Join an online pilot community dedicated towards continually improving their skills with professional coaching.
SimGym is your personal flight sim workout program – designed to expand your pilot knowledge, skills, and experience using your home flight sim.
Whether you’re a student pilot looking to practice VFR flying for your checkride, a certified pilot looking to stay at peak knowledge and IFR proficiency, or a sim enthusiast who wants to take your skills to the next level of realism, SimGym has something for you.
Weekly flight missions to fit your busy schedule, curated by our instructor team.
Standard-level members receive a weekly flight mission based on the principles of scenario-based training. These intense missions will push your skills to the next level. They are designed to fit into your busy schedule (planned and completed within 60 minutes in light GA aircraft).
Instead of having to decide where to fly next, let us take care of the work. We give you the route, including challenging failures and weather conditions to setup – and you act as Pilot in Command (PIC) to complete the flight safely and efficiently. The routes are generally selected to be within PilotEdge ATC coverage areas, if you wish to complete the flight online.
You can either complete these missions solo, or join your fellow pilots for the weekly fly-in, which will be attended by an experienced Certified Flight Instructor. They will be able to answer your questions and provide feedback as you fly the scenario, monitoring your cockpit via screen share software.
Unleash your competitive side
All members are encouraged to take our weekly knowledge quiz. These are designed to help you dig deeper into your reference material and keep you fresh.
They are primarily oriented towards those flying under FAA rules, but pilots from all countries and skill levels will find something of value to learn from them.
The points you earn from taking quizzes and participating in other SimGym activities help you earn free one-on-one remote coaching time with our instructors. See the FAQ below for more details.
Exclusive access to our flight instructors - at a lower cost.
All SimGym members gain access to the instructor team via our private Discord text channel. During the week, you are encouraged to ask us questions about topics related to anything you’re practicing in the simulator, and we will do our best to help you quickly find the answers you need.
Discounts for 1-on-1 coaching clients
All SimGym members are eligible for a 15% package discount when purchasing at least 4 remote coaching sessions (1.5 hours each).
SimGym is also an affordable option for those who aren’t ready to commit to our flagship one-on-one coaching service, but still want to work with our instructor team.

The day of week and time of the weekly flight mission fly-ins may vary from week-to-week to help accomodate users in various time zones and to allow a variety of flight instructors to attend the events. Fly-in dates will be published at least 1 week prior to the event.
You will need to download Discord. We will utilize a Discord channel that allows multiple users to share their screens simultaneously. Your instructor will be able to cycle between your cockpit and the cockpits of the other members.
You can choose to listen to the discussion between the instructor and other students, or mute the audio if you wish.
We target a maximum of approximately 5 pilots per group.
If we have RSVPs for additional pilots, we will open up additional Discord coaching rooms to divide the group among multiple instructors. If this happens, we will separate the group based on experience level or IFR/VFR. If additional instructors are not available, we can schedule a separate overflow session at a different date/time.
You should at least be familiar with the basic operation of your simulator and basic aircraft control. Due to the group format of the events, our instructors will not be able to provide detailed coaching on these topics. If you are brand new to flying or flight simulation, we recommend starting with our 1-on-1 coaching services.
- Answering questions and providing feedback about the scenario or the associated flight planning. Other general questions are also fine, time permitting.
- Discussing the mission and associated Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) and Single-Pilot Resource Management
- Providing feedback on general pilot techniques, flight operations, and ATC radio calls
- Facilitating practice of radio calls (workload-permitting)
- Providing feedback on specific maneuvers that are part of the flight mission
- Helping to suggest additional challenges/failure conditions to increase the level of difficulty for advanced members
The instructor may vary from week to week. This will allow you to learn from a variety of different perspectives and allows us to offer group sessions with a varied schedule. The hosting instructor will be announced no later than 2 days prior to the session and it is subject to change. All instructors are experienced Certified Flight Instructors with flight simulation backgrounds.
You may use any simulator for completing the flight missions. However, from a training standpoint, X-Plane is well-suited for setting up the random failures which are an important aspect of SimGym.
No problem! While you’re encouraged to attend the group flight, this is not required in order to get credit. You can ask questions during the week via the private Discord channel.
SimGym can be used in combination with our standard 1-on-1 remote coaching services, or as a standalone program to support solo simulator practice. The focus of SimGym is primarily on self-study and solo practice, but with a component of instructor support – allowing you to get answers to your questions and feedback.
Due to the short distances of the routes, the weekly flight missions are designed for slower general aviation aircraft (Cessna 172, Piper Warrior, etc.). However, you may use any aircraft type that you would like.
When you join SimGym you gain access to our leaderboard system, allowing you to earn points for completing various activities.
