How to Disable Default Air Traffic Control (ATC) in X-Plane

X-Plane offers a computer-generated air traffic control (ATC) system. If you wish to disable this functionality and use an alternative, human-based ATC system such as VATSIM, IVAO, or PilotEdge (see this guide), follow these steps:

  1. Go to the X-Plane Settings menu
  2. Click the Sound tab
  3. Uncheck the boxes “Enable text ATC messages” and “Enable verbal ATC message“
